Northwestern has its signifiers and catchphrases (“Go ‘Cats” “Purple Pride” “Chicago’s Big Ten School” or “The Ivy of the Midwest”) but it’s about time Northwestern had its own solid all-encompassing and honest slogan. I’ve provided a few suggestions.

Dear Capital One Bowl,
Well hey there. We’re Northwestern. Never heard of us before? That’s okay, we’re pretty new to the “relevant” part of college football town.
We heard you were thinking about asking us to come to your bowl game. As a school that doesn’t ever get invited to The Dance, that really meant a lot to us. We know you have a lot on your mind, but we thought we might just stop by with a few things to think about when you’re making your decision.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that when you chose to come to Northwestern over the University of Crapcago, you did not decide to do so because of NU athletics.
See, this one time, Northwestern football decided to lose 34 straight games just for fun. And then, this other time, Northwestern basketball decided to never make the NCAA Tournament. As a joke. And it’s really fucking funny.
